What You’ll Do
As a Memory Center Educator, you will:
- Creates, revises, and teaches dementia training that promotes best practices in dementia care.
- Is knowledgeable about brain-healthy habits and demonstrates the ability to effectively convey this knowledge, implementing and applying this information where appropriate.
- Offers role-specific dementia training/education to various audiences – Team Members, Visitors, Vendors, Residents, volunteers, carepartners, and others under the guidance of the Lifestyle Integration Leader.
- Schedules, monitors, and ensures compliance with all required educational components.
- Routinely rounds to provide mentoring, education, and “hands-on” guidance at the MDTMC. Makes daily observations to create opportunities to offer real-time interventions and support.
- Collaborates with the Education Department as they provide dementia training for all of Willow Valley Communities to promote consistency of best practice content.
- Maintains excellent relationships with Team Members, Residents, volunteers, and guests.
- Assists with support groups and community outreach as needed.
- Serves as a resource to the interdisciplinary team and participates in support plan meetings as requested.

- Creates a positive and encouraging learning environment for those receiving education.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively convey person-directed culture of the MDTMC while utilizing varying teaching methods to meet the needs of the learner.
- Models person-first language to uphold the principles of the MDTMC.
- Acts as a cultural steward of the "This is Personal" philosophy, modeling empathy, respect, and relationship-centered Support.

What You Bring
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about education and dementia care, with:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- At least 1 year of providing education
- Experience working with people living with dementia
- Background in holistic wellness, healthcare principles, and department management
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- A collaborative, empathetic teaching style and strong communication skills
Schedule & Location
- 40 hours/week
- Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
