Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Compensation

  • Would consider an EMT or LPN for this role:
  • EMT Wage: $21–$25 per hour, based on experience
  • LPN Wage: $22.50-$26.50 per hour, based on experience
  • Differentials available! +$4/hour on weeknights and +$6/hour on the weekends

What You’ll Do

  • Responds to trouble calls to determine Resident needs.
  • Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of Residents.
  • Provides emergency response as needed: assists with CPR & AED response.
  • Responds to life saving situations based upon basic life support protocols.
  • Responsible for giving emergency, acute and short term illness medical care to Residents following established medical directives and Resident Nursing department policies and procedures.
  • Observes Residents, records significant conditions and reactions and notifies healthcare provider of Residents condition and reaction to drugs, treatments and significant incidents.
  • Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal. Takes finger stick blood glucose readings and monitors pulse oximetry.
  • Maintains Resident Nursing Office hours daily, as needed.
  • Checks and maintains emergency bags/cart on a routine basis.
  • Monitors and works with Managers of Resident Services and Supportive Living Team to plan and implement changes in Level of Living.
  • Transports Residents by wheelchair if needed.
  • Assists with managing the wellness meal program for Residents.
  • Responsible for bio-hazardous waste disposal from the nursing office to the bio-hazardous freezer as needed.
  • Runs errands, directs visitors, and answers telephone as needed.
  • Maintains accurate documentation in nurses’ notes and electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Uses computer programs and IPAD’s.
  • Enters Resident and Team Member information into the electronic data base.
  • Responsible for completing Resident Event Reports, Post Exposure Event Reports and Team Member Incident Review Process (IRP) reports.
  • Assists in training and orientation of new Team Members in the Resident Nursing Department.
  • Responsible to function as a Concierge when coverage is needed.
  • Participates in department improvement which includes Corporate and department annual goals.
  • Attends scheduled nursing meetings and training/competency sessions.
  • Completes annual on-line training courses.
  • Complies with Pennsylvania Department of Health Bureau of Emergency Medical Services Basic Life Support Protocols and in accordance with approved medical directives.

Qualifications

  • Current PA EMT certification or PA LPN license
  • Current CPR certification and AED response training

Schedule

  • 36–40 hours per week
  • Overnight shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday
